Strategic Review of Ontario’s Anti-Racism Plan

The 2017 Ontario Anti-Racism Act requires the government to develop and maintain a provincial Anti-Racism Strategic Plan (the Strategy) that will be reviewed at least every 5 years. The Act mandates that any review of the Strategy must include public consultation with communities who are adversely impacted by systemic racism. Reviewing the Strategy ensures that the province continues to address systemic racism and advance racial equity for Indigenous, Black, Muslim, Jewish, Asian, and other racialized populations in Ontario and is responsive to current and evolving issues.

NABC has partnered with the Anti-Racism Directorate (ARD) to facilitate the review sessions that captures the diversity of voices in Black communities.  In fall 2022 NABC will conduct several key informant interviews and host two roundtables, one in French and the other in English. These sessions will allow members of Black communities to exchange ideas, strengthen connections, and influence government practices and policies.  NABC will produce a report that will both capture the results of these sessions and will inform recommendations related to provincial Anti-Racism Strategic Plan.
